“Living Before Dying” takes home an Honorable Mention in the The 12th Annual Unisong International Songwriting Contest in the Social/Political music category.

Singer-Songwriter, Lynette Diaz, of Christchurch, New Zealand has come away with a second songwriting honorable mention in 2009 for the song, “Living Before Dying”

A.R. Scott of Unisong had this to say about all the winning songs. “This year featured a very high overall quality of songs and writers, with diverse and varied entries from a multitude of countries representing every continent on Earth except Antarctica (any songwriting penguins out there?). The judging therefore was extremely competitive and to be singled out anywhere in the top 15% of all songs submitted was no easy feat.”

Lynette comments, “I chose to submit “Living Before Dying” in the social/political category of this year’s Unisong contest, as I believe the songs main message is one of Universal community and dignity. I’ve previously stated that one person can make a difference in the world, and that many of us, resonating with the spirit of social and moral justice, can create positive large scale changes.”

The 2008 Peacedriven Songwriting Awards have been announced, and Lynette Diaz has been awarded an Honorable Mention in this year's contest for her song 'Living Before Dying'.

According to Peacedriven's website, "The Peacedriven Campaign is a grassroots effort with projects including the Peacedriven Songwriting
Award, recognizing songwriters that use music to inspire social change!"

Out of more than 400 entries in the 2008 Peacedriven Songwriting Contest, 'Living Before Dying' is among the top songs embodying the mission of peace through social change.

Lynette comments, "My outlook on Life is always quite positive. I do feel that one person can make a difference in the world, and that many of us resonating with the spirit of social and moral justice can create positive large scale changes. It starts with our individual hearts in the right place, and radiates out into the Universal whole."

Hi Friends,
My gig calendar is a bit sparse at the moment, but that is purposeful. I've been winding down for a few weeks, getting organized, as I prepare for knee surgery in the coming days.

The surgery is a longtime needed, and will get me moving and grooving better than ever on stage.

I'll be off my feet for a bit, which should be good for guitar practice and songwriting.

I've got some vacation time coming as well over the various Holidays, including two overseas trips. Looking forward to that.

(Hum, note to myself: rehab that knee well, gonna need it for all the fun and exciting things to come)

As soon as I start booking again, I'll let you know, as 2009 promises to be full of great musical adventures. In the meantime, I hope my new CD can hold you over! Keep resonatin'! xo Lynette
